Three murder accused to seek bail at High Court

Kanye Magistrate Court has instructed three accused persons, who allegedly murdered Mr Thatayaone Ogotseng near Mpuutsane Ward in Kanye on January 14 by poisoning him to apply for bail at High Court.


The accused persons appeared before Kanye Magistrate Court for mention on March 15.  Kanye senior magistrate Bame Ngaka said the trio should be remanded in custody until next mention which is on March 23 after he received a response from the High Court about whether to grant them bail or not.


The trio were not allowed to say anything about being granted bail by the magistrate instead they should write to the High Court seeking bail out. The three accused are, Tiroyaone Masuku (45) of Letlhakane East, Kamogelo Ralokha (30) of Kanye and  Kedibonye Ramoruiwa (44) also of Kanye.

The prosecution is also awaiting some tests results from forensic laboratory. The deceased is already buried. Earlier last month when the accused persons appeared for the first time in court after being arraigned, the investigating officer Detective Sergeant Ukambirira Kutewa told the court that the accused should not be granted bail because residents of Letlhakane East were still baying for their blood.


The officer also stated that the accused also might interfere with investigations with some witnesses who were still to be interviewed.


Particulars of the offence are that three accused persons on January 13 and 14  at or near Mpuutsane ward in Kanye in the Southern District acted jointly and in concert with a common purpose murdered, Mr Ogotseng. They are facing a single count of murder contrary to section 202 of the Penal Code Cap 08:01 of Botswana laws. ENDS
