Renowned gospel singer, Tebbie Setlhomo, dubbed the queen of gospel, has released a single titled Donate Blood, Save a Life meant to raise awareness of blood shortage in the country.
Speaking in a brief interview, Tebbie said she was set to launch the single on April 28 at Ave Maria.
She indicated that the single would be distributed to the public for free, and that she came up with the idea to release the song after realising that there was shortage of blood in health facilities across the country.
“As a musician with a large following I found it fit to use my talent to help the Ministry of Health and Wellness in its efforts to appeal to the public to donate blood. If we all do that as a nation many lives will be saved,” she said.
Tebbie further noted that after the launch, she would embark on a tour of all churches in Gaborone to spread the message whilst simultaneously distributing the single to multitudes of Batswana.
The four minute song was recorded at Nice Touch Studio.
“We need about 40 000 units of blood, but we only receive about 22 000 for now. Through this song, I urge everyone to take the noble step of donating blood in order to save another person’s life,” continued Tebbie.
The song has a catchy tune and upbeat gospel tempo. The lyrics urge Batswana to do something about the blood shortage in the country.
Her unique edgy voice also stands out and complements the composition.
The Ministry of Health and Wellness in conjunction with the National Blood Transfusion Service Centre has of recent launched a nationwide appeal for individuals to donate blood under the slogan, ‘Share blood, share life.’ Ends
