31 Aug 2026

President Advocate Duma Boko swapped his neatly tailored formal suits for streetwear, Friday at the 14th Botswana Music Union (BOMU) awards.

He paired loose fitting syrup pants with a loose white t-shirt and white structured lightweight felted jacket. The heart of his outfit was the black chunky, high-lug platform shoes.

True to his style, President Boko accessorised with dark designer shades, a signature item that he wears quite well plus a designer timepiece.

Minister of Sports and Art, Jacob Kelebeng also served casual drip, clad in a black casual tailored one button jacket suit, seamlessly blended with a white shirt and white Nike sneakers.

His blue shade newsboy ‘stapora’ cap complemented the awards look, making him a constant focal point for modern outfit inspiration on the night.

While BOMU president, Gloria Dzwikiti was effortlessly comfortable and easy in an elegant black sequin dress with equally elegant open shoes with glitter detail., her high bun hairstyle with saree, highlighted sleek modern profile. Completing her look, was the silver sequin clutch bag.

The 14th BOMU awards marked a historic milestone with a first female leader of the organisation and most significant, President Boko became the first sitting President to attend the event.  The awards’ historic milestone also collides with Botswana’s Diamond Jubilee to be celebrated in September.

President Boko’s presence at the awards cemented government’s commitment to growing the creative sector into a core economic driver and a major source of youth employment through targeted funding, legal reforms, and infrastructure support.

The creative and cultural industries account for about 3.1 per cent of the GDP. ENDS
