Creatives forum on March 3
18 Feb 2018
Petlo Literary Artists in Collaboration with Cherryapple will host the first ever creatives’ forum at Botswana National Museum on March 3.
A press release from Petlo Liberty Artists says the mandate of the creative forum is to unify creatives in Botswana and dissect the creative industry through a series of discussions, presentations, networking and drawing of solutions.
The theme for the forum is Creative Collaborations: Working together as Artists.
“The Creatives’ Forum was conceptualised to firstly unify creatives of all discipline and to establish underlying issues within the creative industry.
This industry is currently a stand alone entity and creatives conduct their businesses without stipulated regulations of a union or national body”, says the release .
The release further states that the goods and services of the creative industry are vulnerable to exploitation such as underpricing, overpricing and no pay, due to unregulated business conditions, and little platforms to sell goods and services.
According to the release, Solomon Monyame, who is a musician, producer and COSBOTS founding chairperson and Philip Segola, who is an artist, painter and chairperson of the creative industries sector committee for Human Resource Development Council, are two speakers at the forum. Ends
