Local ballet school to perform at Moscow show

15 Feb 2018

Next month The Royal Moscow Ballet will share Rushian culture with Batswana through a dance event that will be held at Gaborone International Convention Centre.

A top on the cherry will be the participation of local ballet school called Risa Ballet. Their students will form a great part of the opening act of the event, to be held on March 7.

In an interview, OP Advertising managing director Francis Gleeson, described the Royal Moscow Ballet as “a great spirit lifting experience that everyone should experience.”

He explained that the ballet will feature various performances such as the Black pas de deux (the black swan) a third act from Swan Lake with powerfully dramatic choreography and music and  Francesca da Rimini - the story of a noblewoman who falls in love with the brother of her cruel husband and is discovered.

“Through this ballet show we also intend to inspire students in ballet classes across various local ballet schools to see ballet as more than just an afternoon activity but as another source of income like any other sport or art by allowing them to attend all rehearsals and meet performers in order to see what it takes to be an international performer as well as sharing the stage with the world class performers,” Gleeson explained.

Gleeson continued to state that the OP Advertising Facebook page would provide more details and information on what ballet was and analysing various ballet performances in order for people to have a better understanding of ballet.

“This year we have partnered with Capital Bank as our main sponsor and the Grand Palm where tickets to the show will be available,” he said.

In an interview, Capital Bank CEO Jaco Viljoen indicated that his organization was proud to sponsor the Royal Moscow Ballet and they always did their best to help various sectors such as education, health and other arts events.

“From a business point of view, we see ballet as yet another form of youth networking opportunity as local youth will network with the international performers who will be here to perform at the show and vice versa,” Viljoeu said.

Viljoeu further explained that through their monetary sponsorship of the ballet show, the ticket prices will be affordable and thus making the event more accessible to everyone. Ends
