Police probe rape

District No.5 deputy officer commanding, Superintendent John Kelebeng says Maun police are investigating an incident in which a 37-year-old woman of Boseja ward was attacked by an assailant who stabbed her on the cheek before allegedly raping her. 

The incident took place at the victim’s house on February 3.

In an interview, Supt. Kelebeng said the police were still searching for the suspect. 

Still in Maun, Supt Kelebeng said the police were in search of two men who are suspected to have raped a 23-year-old woman in Thito ward on February 3. 

He said the victim was walking from Fresher’s Exclusive night club along the road when the culprits pounced on her and allegedly raped her.

Supt. Kelebeng also said the police were searching for a suspect who attacked students in a dormitory at Gowa Junior Secondary School in Mohembo on February 2 and dragged a 16-year- old female student to his place where he allegedly raped her.

He said the assailant was still at large as he escaped when the school authority followed the footsteps to his place in the morning and managed to bring back the student.

Supt. Kelebeng further said police were questioning a 41-year-old man who is a suspect in a defilement case of a 14-year-old girl in Gumare. 

He said the father to the 14-year-old girl reported the matter to the police upon finding the victim in the company of the suspect in the wee hours of the morning of February 1. ENDS
