Extension Gunners family watched in disbelief as the visiting Police XI sank them in three quick goals in a space of 30 minutes of the opening half in their second round tie at the University of Botswana Stadium on February 4.

The two teams had played to a two all draw in their opening account of the BTC Premiership in the first round.

On form striker Kekaetswe Moloi opened the score sheet just 12 minutes into the game after receiving a neat cross from the far right.

He tapped past an advancing Katlego Mbise in  search for a goal.

Just as the game was headed towards the half hour mark Tapiwa Gadibolae increased the visiting team’s tally with a beautiful curling direct freekick just outside the box.

Gunners long serving player Katlego Mothibi was adjudged to have committed an offence as the Police strikers were piling pressure with a goal cushion.

Misery piled for the Peleng giants as their central defender Leteng Legopelo was taken ill to the hospital.

He had made an effort to clear out the marauding Eliphas Nyambi’s shot but suffered a head injury in the process and also sadly conceded a corner kick.

From the resultant corner Uyapo Seleka collected a rebound from the edge of the box and curled past Mbise to make it 0-3.

Gunners’ real chance fell on the 56th minute after a cluster of Police defenders failed to deal with an easy shot and ended up illegally handling inside the box.

Kenanao Kgetholetsile who was introduced during the break watched in disbelief as his effort came off the upright.

Moments later Kgetholetsile was cautioned for simulation.

With a three goals cushion Police mentor Sthandwa Mogwadi threw numbers to the back to thwart any Gunners’ threat.

However, Kgetholetsile ractified his earlier mistake converting a far post header to beat the energetic Kamogelo Mogomotsi in Police goal.

Mogomotsi had replaced their first choice keeper Bokamoso Moeba.

Mbise on the other hand survived a scare when Moloi’s shot came of the upright denying him a brace.

Gunners reduced the embarrassment during referee’s additional time when Mothusi Cooper’s long range free kick sailed through Mogomotsi’s hands to make it a final score of 2-3.

In other league games played on Sunday Miscellaneous beat Gilport Lions 3-2 while Black Forest played to a goal apiece against Mochudi Centre Chiefs in Molepolole. ENDS
