Sehithwa police are investigating an incident in which a 20-year-old man was found hanging from a tree at Mowana cattle post near Bodibeng.
Superintendent Elias Malope said the deceased was found on January 28 after a massive search by the police and members of the community. He was reported missing on Sunday morning.

He said it was alleged that prior to the incident the deceased was involved in a fight with another man aged 27 over a girlfriend. Superintendent Malope said it was reported that the deceased managed to escape and spent the whole night of Saturday out.

The following day his family reported him missing and a search team went out. He said they suspect that the deceased could have committed suicide as they followed his footsteps and realised that he cut a wire from one of the surrounding fields which he used to hang himself.
Superintendent Malope said incidents of suicides were worrisome and appealed to the public to seek assistance from relevant authorities when they have problems.

He said people should understand that life was a precious gift, and that death was not a solution to challenges hence the need to engage social workers, elders or dikgosi when one encountered difficulties in life. Ends
