Organisers promise thriling YAMAs

The 4th annual Yarona FM Music Awards (YAMAs) slated for February 3 at GICC are expected to bring together the best of Botswana urban music talent to celebrate the best works released in 2017.

According to a press release from Yarona FM, the YAMAs are all about propelling Botswana’s music a step further as it has always been the station’s mission to grow and appreciate Botswana’s music. Some of the performers on the night will include Yaw Bannerman, Veezo, ATI, Amantle Brown,  and Juju Boy .

Yarona FM station manager Kelly Ramputswa revealed that the 4th edition awards will be  ‘bigger and better.’

She said this year’s ceremony was coming with a big twist with guest appearances by some of the biggest artistes in the region being Khuli Chana and HHP.

She said having the two-award winning South African musicians at the ceremony was intended to showcase the YAMAs’ growth into an international event. 

Ramputswa stressed the collaborative potential of having stars from other markets present.

 “It is important to have such big stars grace us with their presence, it’s an opportunity for us to show them our talent and provide a unique networking platform that can help our artists reach greater heights,” she said.

She further invited fans of Botswana music to come and witness the awarding of the best of Botswana music as they play a pivotal role in making the artistes the stars they are.

The nominee list reflects how good the year 2017 was in terms of quality music releases such as the coverted song of the year title which will see a tough battle between Amantle Brown and Juju Boy’s Follo, A.T.I, Legacy DG and Yung Amazing’s Khiring Khiring Khorong khorong, Bangu’s Hani Mubone, Dj Anthem and Skavenja’s Monyopi and Veezo and Yaw Bannerman’s Zaka. ENDS
