Local clothing brand grows bigger

25 Jan 2018

After hitting the market in 2011, Home Brewed clothing company did not become an instant hit as anticipated. It was only two years later that the local brand started warming its way to the hearts of its customers.

Now seven years later, the brand has shown immense growth dressing local artistes such as Mlesho, Lecco and the current Mokaragana TV show presenters as well as South African artistes such as Dj Sbu, David Mahlangu and Emmanuel Nkosi Cengani who acts on SA soap opera Rhythm City.

In an interview, marketing manager of the clothing brand, Thabang Sebowe revealed that Home Brewed means locally or home-made and since the brand was going international, it related with everyone wherever they were even if it was outside Botswana.

He said Home Brewed was not just a clothing product, but also a networking brand that allowed its customers to become part of the brand while earning extra cash to sustain their lives.

“Our vision is to sell Home Brewed merchandise and dress over one million people by the year 2025. So we want our customers to become part of our ‘Join lebandla Leadership 2025’. The initiative will see members earning 10 per cent off their total sales,” he said.

Sebowe further mentioned that Home Brewed supported education in Botswana and as part of their social responsibility, they hosted charity events that would help those in need.

He said they would adopt a school then identify under-privileged students and donate school uniforms to them.

“Last year during independence day, we hosted our first ever charity event at Mabalane community hall where we invited local artistes and foreign acts to take part in the event. We used 10 per cent of the brand sales to buy school uniform for the needy students and donated to them on the day.

This is a new project we have embarked on and we wish to make it an annual event,” he added.

Home Brewed is a wholly citizen-owned clothing brand that specialises in sewing and printing garments.

The brand is mobile and works in orders, with the factory situated in Block 3 Industrial in Gaborone. Some of the products they make include T-shirts, caps, dresses, hoodies, branded camp chairs and school bags among other products. Ends
