The likes of Martin Luther King and Oprah Winfrey have inspired 30-year-old Boitshepo Leepile to write poems based on challenges people encounter in everyday life.
Born and bred in Papatlo in Borolong, Leepile studied at Tonota College of Education majoring in English and Religious Education.
Leepile, who is currently sponsoring himself to study Real Estate at BA ISAGO University said his book, My Ankle got Twisted was the first book to be published in 2017 courtesy of Showcasing Talents publishers.
The book inspired by how people such as Martin Luther King use their pains to heal world is currently available in some book stores.
In an interview, Leepile emphasised that the world could overcome challenges through such educative pieces. He said challenges were not meant to break people but to make them strong adding that ‘instead of setting back thinking that you are defeated one can actually turn a challenge into a positive initiative to work hard to conquer the world.’ The title portrays a person who fell unexpectedly and later on realised his mistakes.
My Ankle got Twisted, he said was aimed at empowering the black child stating that black people do not know they possess a great power, which they could use to defeat challenges.
“The book also gives courage that trials and tribulations are not meant to stay,” he said.
Leepile encouraged Batswana to read a lot of written materials as it keeps one active mentally to avoid boredom. The book, he said was written in simple English to ease understanding.
“Remember an idle mind is the devil’s workshop,” he said.
He pleaded with Batswana to get themselves copy of the book in order to support him.
A copy sells at P150. Ends
