Herdmen to appear for MP murder

15 Jan 2018

The Letlhakeng Station Commander, Superintendent Daniel Katse has confirmed to BOPA the details of the murder of  Mochudi East legislator, Mr Isaac Davids.

In a brief interview, Supt. Katse indicated that Mr Davids met his untimely death on Sunday morning at the village of Sorilatholo after a fight with his farm workers.

He said this came after the late Member of Parliament had made prior arrangement with his farm workers to round up cattle as he would be bringing some people to buy them on Sunday.

He said that on Sunday when he came to the cattle post with the buyers, Mr Davids found that the cattle were not rounded up as agreed, and the farm workers were reported to have gone drinking at the nearby Sorilatholo village.

“He then followed them there and when he arrived, a fight ensured and the workers ended up stabbing him with a sharp instrument three times; on the chest, near the belly and on the thigh. The friend who came with him to buy some cattle then reported to Sorilatholo police who got in contact with the Letlhakeng station,” he said.

Supt. Katse said that Mr Davids was then rushed to Letlhakeng clinic where he was certified dead.

He said his body is lying at the Scottish Livingstone Hospital awaiting post mortem while the suspects, a 31 -year -old Zimbabwean national and a 32 -year -old Motswana have been detained and would appear for mention before the Molepolole magistrate’s court tomorrow.

He said more details on the matter are still under investigation. Supt. Katse said the incident is the second one this month in his policing area. He therefore urged people to always involve mediators whenever they have disputes.

“Fighting does not resolve any dispute and it can only end in tragedies that are at the end regrettable,” he said. ENDS
