Police investigate two murder incidents

Maun Police Station Commander, Superintendent Motlhaba Ramabyaa has appealed to the public to assist the police with information leading to the arrest of the culprits involved in two murder incidents.

He revealed in an interview that the first incident involved a 41-year-old woman, who was found in a bush about 400 metres from Sedie ward.

He said the incident was reported on Monday (January 8) by a passerby.

The police, he said rushed to the scene and the deceased was certified dead on arrival at Letsholathebe Memorial Hospital.

Still in Maun, Supt. Ramabyaa said another incident involved a four-month baby, who was found in a plastic bag abandoned by the road side at Disana ward.

He said they received a report from a passerby who was suspicious about the plastic bag and when the police arrived at the scene, they found the baby wrapped with a nappy in a decomposed state inside the bag.

He said currently no arrest had been made regarding the two incidents while investigations continue.

He said the police were still in the search of the mother of the baby and the culprit who murdered the 41-year-old woman.

Meanwhile, Supt. Ramabyaa noted that incidents of murder were a concern in his policing area stating that last year, they recorded 14 cases while this year, they had already recorded two.

He appealed to the public to seek assistance from village leaders, social workers if they encountered difficult situations. ENDS
