Tlokweng police hail residents

Tlokweng Police Station commander Superintendent Robson Maleka has applauded residents of his policing area for having maintained peace and tranquility during the festive season.
Speaking in an interview superintendent Maleka said the police had anticipated a lot of commotion due to extended festive entertainment hours that were accorded to festivals across the country.
He noted that contrary to their expectation, residents of Tlokweng mostly whiled away time and the night in their homes during the arrival on the new year.
He said the police also learnt that in most homesteads where music was played, the noise was generally acceptable as residents were enjoying with a sense of responsibility and dignified way.
In addition Superintendent Maleka said bars in the village closed well in time as owners cooperated with police patrol teams, who were on high alert.
Meanwhile Superintendent Maleka said they recorded sporadic incidents of assault occasioning injuries and cases of people being dispossessed of their valuables especially cellphones at the bars by some youth who are also blamed for incidents of common nuisance as they blockaded some streets and roads with tyres during new year’s eve.
In another incident, a herdboy, was arrested for stealing his employer’s goat. Police investigations on the matter continue.
On another criminal matter an illegal Zimbabwean couple was arrested after the man stabbed his wife with a sharp instrument.
The lady was taken for medical attention but is held at the police station in a special area while the husband is detained.
They are to face the law before being deported back to Zimbabwe.
Superintendent Maleka hailed volunteer policing clusters which were on patrol as they played an active role in ensuring peace and security within Tlokweng area, which Superintendent Maleka said did not register and any traffic road accident. ENDS
