In an interview, Supt Baatweng said a 77-year-old woman was raped by a 30-year-old man in Mmathubudukwane on Christmas Eve.

He said the man, who lives in the same neighbourhood as the old woman, was suspected to have sneaked into the old woman’s house around midnight and allegedly raped her.

Supt Baatweng said the suspect has been arrested and that investigations were ongoing. He urged Batswana to take care of the elderly and to ensure that they were not left alone in order to prevent such incidents from occurring.

Supt Baatweng said the boy was reported to have followed the woman to her house. The woman, who was from a drinking spree left the door unlocked, making it easy for the suspect to enter the house.

Supt Baatweng said the deceased were two females and two men aged between 20 and 40 years.
