Assistant Minister of Local Government and Rural Development, Botlogile Tshireletso says  the Re-a-nyalana initiative give couples, families and homes confidence and dignity.  

Speaking during a Re-a-nyalana wedding ceremony in Serule on December 26, where nine couples from Topisi and Serule tied the knot, Tshireletso explained that marriage was the foundation of the family institution which formed the basis of any society or nation.

She said through the Re-a-nyalana initiative, marriages had become official.

She added that when a marriage was official, it was protected by law and also addressed issues of inheritance and protected couples and their children.

She called on couples who got married to continue loving and supporting each other.

Tshireletso further hailed the Re-a-nyalana initiative, noting that marriage instilled good morals in society.

She also noted that since the inception of Re-a-nyalana initiative in 2011, more than 2 000 couples had tied the knot and that couples around the country were still coming through to get married through the initiative.

She explained that before the inception of the initiative, workshops and consultations were made in all districts around the country.

For his part, the Member of Parliament for Serowe North, Kgotla Autlwetse, who contributed a beast towards the ceremony, explained that the step that the couples had taken to get married through Re-a-nyalana  had made their union official.

He commended the couples for taking the bold step in getting married through the initiative, noting that what they had done had instilled confidence and dignity in their lives and families.

The event was attended by dikgosi, civil servants and residents of Topisi, Moreomabele and Serule.ENDS
