Police seize substance suspected to be dagga valued at P300 000

Northern divisional CID officer, Assistant Commissioner Ms Oabitsa Rankwaila has revealed that on Friday,the police seized substance suspected to be dagga during a roadblock along A1 road.
In an interview with BOPA, Ms Rankwaila said the police mounted a roadblock in line with the ongoing 60 Days of Action on Crime and Road Safety and apprehended a middle aged Motswana man with substance suspected to be dagga.
She said the suspect, who was driving a mini bus that is also used as public transport between Francistown and Shashe Mooke, alleged that he was transporting morogo from Palapye to Francistown at the time of arrest.
Ms Rankwaila said during a search, the police found three big bags with one containing 60 packages, the other one 51 packages while the last one contained 46 packages of the same substance.
She said two of the bags were labeled “Ugly” and the police are still yet to investigate what it meant.
She said the total weight of the suspected substance was 50kg and if found to be dagga it meant the estimated value would over P300 000.
She further said the substance would be taken to the police forensic laboratory for testing.
She revealed that cases of dagga were a concern in the area. BOPA
