21 Nov 2017
A Tlokweng man who is accused of the murder of his girlfriend July this year is anxious for the court to commit his trial to the High Court, where he is aiming to apply for bail.
Appearing on Tuesday (November 21) before Gaborone Extension II Magistrate Court for regularly court update and mention, Kediemetse Mogotsi could not stomach the fact that his possible prosecutor at the High Court from the Directorate of Public Prosecutions (DPP) was not in attendance to update the court.
Earlier on, Inspector Lesego Kgosiemang from Broadhurst Police Station Prosecution Unit had told the court that the officer who had been assigned this case at the DPP was on leave and did not know when she would be available.
In the previous mention, Inspector Kgosiemang had informed the court that the matter had been forwarded to DPP for assessment for possible trial and during the November 21 sitting the court was to be updated on progress made thus far.
Nevertheless, Inspector Kgosiemang said he was hopeful that the DPP prosecutor would be available in the next mention for court update.
In the meantime, Mogotsi complained that his continuous incarceration has a negative effect to his children whom he had to take care of.
He would however appear again on December 4, 2017.
Mogotsi, who is also facing another murder charge of killing his father in 2012, is alleged to have strangled his girlfriend Maria Losolebe on July 3, 2017 at their rented house in Tlokweng.
The incident happened shortly after she arrived home from a spent away night and single-handedly buried her in a grave which they had dug together the previous day in an adjacent house.
He had told the police that he waited for dusk to set before burying her and sealed the grave with concrete.
Magistrate, Ms Batho Kgerethwa presided the matter. ENDS
