Mafikozolo to grace Bosetu Cultural Night

Botswana Sectors of Educators Trade Union (BOSETU) is set to host Mafikozolo, Amantle Brown and Sereetsi & The Natives at its annual cultural night at Molapo Piazza on December 15.
Speaking at a press briefing recently, secretary for sports and culture at BOSETU, Ndiyapo Modimo said the union’s cultural groups (traditional dance, choir and band) and T The Dj would also be performing on the night.
“Tickets for golden circle retail for P350 and standard tickets are P250. People can buy tickets here at Proticket in Molapo or any Choppies Hyper store around the country,” he said.
He said the reasons for hosting the event had always been social inclusion, relaxation, taking stock and introspecting about the year with their members and Batswana.
Modimo said they chose to host the cultural night at Molapo Piazza because of its security.
“This place is a safety fortress and revellers are assured of being kept safe inside and outside. Also, their vehicles are also assured safety in the parking lot,” he said.
He further said the cultural night would be sponsored by their companies being Peubo Investments and BOSETU Funeral Scheme.
“They have sponsored us with promotional materials and revellers will also get the chance to win Huawei phones. When one buys a golden circle ticket, they are automatically entered into a draw to win the Huawei Y7
Prime cellphone. As for those that buy standard tickets, they will stand a chance to win the Huawei Y520 cellphone.
The draw for the phones will be done on the night of the show,” he said.
For his part, secretary general of BOSETU, Tobokani Rari said BOSETU currently had a membership of over 17 000.
“This cultural night was established so as to keep some of membership active because some of them are not involved in political activism like us, hence they need something to keep them in the organisation,” he said.
Another reason why the cultural night was held since 2009, he said was to raise funds to plough back into the community.
“We have built houses for the less privileged in various communities and also some of these funds, we use them to transport teachers, who take part in sporting games,” he said.
He noted that BOSETU was on a drive to recruit teachers in tertiary and private school institutions so as to harmonise the teaching profession and advocate for teachers’ issues in one voice.
Molapo Piazza is one of, if not, the best venue in the country when it comes to safety and security issues.
Its evacuation doors and access for people to freely enter and leave in case of emergency is unrivalled.
The place also boasts of CCTV, which makes it easy for security personnel to identify and apprehend troublemakers.
One of the other key issues about Molapo Piazza is that it does not allow people to make gatherings outside the venue when there is an event going on inside.
People park their vehicles and go inside the venue and if they happen to want to go back outside again to fetch something from the cars, they ask security to accompany them, especially women. ENDS
