A truly epic beard is the product of self-restraint as each man’s beard is unique and deserves a custom care and maintenance regiment.

Beard grooming has never been so easy, but House of Beards has done an exceptional job assisting with that by providing quality male grooming products.

House of Beards, owned and operated by Pearl Ranna, 24, and Dennis Komboni, 20, has been running for over three months now.

The spot is situated in Gaborone and does house calls to the rest of the country on request.

They have a variety of products such as beard oil conditioning, which goes for P150, non-fragranced beard shampooing for P220, assorted natural fragranced and non-fragranced beard oils at P250 each and beard balm/wax at the price of P280.

Their products have natural oils such as tea tree oil, Argon oil, avocado oil, jojoba oil and other essential oils such as apricot, rosemary extracts and grapefruit.

In an interview with BOPA Komboni stated that the products ensure strong, healthy and shiny beard as well as prevent itchiness and dryness of the facial hair and skin.

They also reduce the appearance and existence of after shaving sores, as such they can also be used as a pre-shaving tool.

He added that they enhance beard growth from the follicles of the hair within the roots.

Komboni mentioned the oils in the products have been naturally pressed from the original plants and have not been processed in order to maintain the high level of nutritional value.

As such they also act as an anti-inflammatory and anti-bacterial agents.

“Because African hair is known to be dry, it is important to avoid the use of shampoos or soaps that contain chemicals to prevent facial hair from drying and itching,” he said.

Further, he stated that even if one washes their beard with water only, they should make sure they moisturise it in order for the skin to also absorb the necessary moisture and minerals in order to promote a healthy, strong and thick looking beard that does not look uneven and patched.

For her part, Ranna advised people to ensure that the oils they use are natural (non-chemical) and contain Vitamin E.

She also said instead of shaving the beard because it looks uneven, one  could try cut split ends in order to get a fuller-looking beard which is neatly trimmed and well kept.

“Even if your hair grows well without beard-grooming products, it is important to maintain a healthy-looking beard that is well nourished and manageable, which is where most men lose the plot in grooming their facial hair,” she said.

Ranna stressed the importance of trimming the beard once in two weeks or once a month to improve facial hair structure and condition.
