09 Nov 2017
Unami Selelo, known in the Jazz music cycles as Una Sell is back with the release of a single titled Banabaphefo and music video of her previously released single, Ikgabetse.
After releasing her first single this year, which received favourable airplay in radio stations, Una Sell is surely destined for greater heights and is in the game to make a mark.
In an Interview with BOPA, 30-year-old lass from Serowe was content with her new release, which she said was a result of persuasion from her producer, Kuseri Kumakili of KK Music Production at Gabane.
“Banabaphefo is a contemporary jazz love song. It speaks of a declaration of an undying love and is an inspiration for the downtrodden that indeed love conquers all,” she said.
She opens the track with the sound of light tinkling jazz beats in a clear and commanding voice, Sthandwa same fa ke go sheba ke tswa bana ba phefo, which when translated, basically gives an impression of a lover head over heels in love with his or her partner.
She has also released a video of her first single, Ikgabetse released April this year.
The video was shot and edited by Jack Botlhoko Films and the script done by herself.
“It is now less than a year after the release of my first single, this is to indicate my commitment to the industry and my desire to bring the best and impress Jazz lovers,” she pointed out.
She said although the song had not yet been played on radio and television, it had been submitted.
“I am adamant that Banabaphefo will soon play on radio stations since it took a while before Ikgabetse hit the airwaves. I know it takes time,” she said.
“I have been interviwed on RB2 by DJ Sly and also performed my two songs, on Btv on Meriting Show, which was hosted by Cliff Kepaletswe. Her video, she said, had so far been viewed by more than 20 000 on Facebook and the feedback was amazing. I am spreading my wings to fly and working on a collaboration deal which involves one of the renowned South African artiste, so please watch the space,” she said.
Her plan she said was to gain mileage from the two singles before she releasing an album.
“My plan is to release a 10-track full album next February,” she said.
Una Sell was nominated for the recently held Northern Arts Awards for Best Jazz Award against, Poifo, Tebogo Ketlhoilwe, Mshilo and Ernest Molaodi. ENDS
