Ghanzi police probe murder

Ghanzi police are investigating the death of a 26-year-old woman of West Hanahai, suspected to have been murdered by her lover of the same village.
Ghanzi Police Station Commander Superintendent Modiri Lekone told BOPA in an interview that the incident occurred on November 3 along Ghanzi-Hanahai road 30 kilometres from Ghanzi.
He said the ordeal happened around 11 pm and prior to the incident there was a fight between the couple.
On the fateful day, Superintendent Lekone explained that the deceased and the suspect were heading different directions when they met along Ghanzi-Hanahai road 30 kilometres from Ghanzi and started the fight.
He said a passersby tried to intervene but failed before reporting the matter to the police.
He said upon arrival at the scene, the police found the deceased who was pronounced dead on examination at the hospital.
Supt. Lekone said it is suspected that a sharp object was used to commit the crime, evidenced by wounds on the victim, adding however that investigations were still ongoing and the police were still searching for the suspect.
The body of the deceased is at a local mortuary awaiting post-mortem. ENDS
