Investigating officer not available to update court
01 Nov 2017
The prosecutor in a case in which Daniel Phadisa is facing two counts of murder, Sub Inspector Onkemetse Modukanele, has told the Broadhurst Magistrate Court that the Investigating Officer (IO) was not available to update the court on the state of investigations into the matter.
Appearing briefly before Magistrate Wame Mosugelo on Wednesday, S/Insp Modukanele said the IO would only be able to appear in court after two weeks as he was engaged elsewhere.
She thus applied for Phadisa to be further remanded in custody as the substantive magistrate Mr Gaseitsiwe Tonoki was also not available.
Called to address the court, Phadisa said he wanted to know how far the investigations were from being concluded. After hearing the parties, Magistrate Mosugelo granted the prosecution’s application for the accused’s further remand.
She then set November 14 as the accused’s next mention date.
Phadisa allegedly murdered two women, Bembe Magosi and her daughter Gomolemo Motladiile, in Broadhurst in Gaborone on September 30, this year. BOPA
