Mochudi Police investigate kidnapping case
10 Oct 2017
Mochudi police are investigating a case in which a head teacher at one of the local schools was allegedly kidnaped at her house on Sunday evening.
Speaking in an interview, Mochudi Police Station Commander, Supt Olebile Sitale said the alleged kidnapers invaded the house where the woman is staying, abducted and later tied her at some field near Pilane fly-over in an attempt to rob her.
He said they took her ATM card in attempt to take money from her account, but failed as the card was captured by the machine.
Supt Sitale said with failed attempts to rob the woman, the kidnapers called the woman’s children and demanded a ransom from them.
He said they were yet to establish how the woman escaped from the kidnappers but could confirm that she had been hospitalised at Princess Marina Hospital after she sustained some injuries during the kidnaping.
He said the police had in custody one suspect in regard to the kidnaping issue and will be helping them with investigations.
In other news, Spt Sitale said they have four cases of robbery from the social picnic event that was held at Masa Gardens in Rasesa over the weekend.
He said they received reports of cellphones and laptops being stolen during the picnic by thieves who used force to get them.
Supt Sitale therefore urged people not to carry their valuables with them neither leave them in their cars when attending events as thieves find an opportunity to rob people of such valuables. ENDS
