Mr Miss little Independence pageant success
03 Oct 2017
The first Mr and Miss little Independence pageant held in Maun on Independence Eve at Nhabe Museum was a success.
The organiser, Batshidi Moeti said in an interview that the attendance was satisfactory for the debut contest.
The pageant, she said aimed to nurture talent from tender age and had two categories of children aged between four to seven years as well as eight to 16 years categories.
Moeti said the pageant concept was to engage children since independence celebrations normally targeted elders.
She said her hope was for the event to grow annually. She however said she hoped for sponsors to come on board to support the initiative.
Moeti who is a poet and founder of Expector Recreation Arts Centre for children said she desired to develop children in various art forms; poetry, singing, dancing and modelling.
She said she hoped her art centre would be launched soon.
The Miss Little Independence crown for 4-7 years was taken by Betney Grey, First Princess Larona Moeti and Isago Chanchaka as Second princess. The 8-16 years teen category crown was taken by Neo Retshabile, First princess Thuto Kebolokwe, Second Princess by Omogolo Magola while Teto Masoko was the prince as the only male contestant. ENDS
