Principal assistant district officer for the Kanye Administrative Authority, Ms Keamogetse Segokgo says preparations for the BOT50+1 independence celebrations are afoot.

Ms Segokgo told BOPA in an interview that it was crucial for Kanye residents to pick up where they had left off during BOT50 celebrations last year and build for the future.

She said Batswana had every reason to celebrate the journey they have travelled thus far for the last 50 years and be thankful for the fact that they had built their country, which was viewed by some as a barren desert, from scratch without any drop of blood to what it was today.

Ms Segokgo encouraged residents to play a steering role both during preparations and celebrations adding public officers would give them necessary support.

Ms Segokgo encouraged anyone, who might want to contribute towards the event both in cash and in kind to do so as a show of national pride.

She said the BOT 50+1 preparatory committee would on Wednesday next week paint the Moshupa/Ranaka traffic circle in Botswana colours with the view to create hype.

Boere dance group, DJ Clippa among others will jazz up the event. ENDS
