Mogoditshane Meat Festival promises fun

14 Sep 2017

The Mogoditshane Meat Festival, set to take place next month, promises to be a fun-filled day with plenty of great food, meat and entertainment.

The festival is the brain-child of Mogodiri Development Society, a non-profit making organisation founded by Mogoditshane residents who wished to make the village a preferred area of choice for people to meet, celebrate and enjoy great feast and music.

One of the organisers, Mondale Pule said they wished to make the festival an annual event that would not only offer amazing food, but deliver a meaningful message in a festival context.

“The meat fest aims to raise the bar and be different from other food festivals by offering experiences, inspiration and learning that would transform the way people think about meat and food in general,” he said.

He said for organisations already operating in the food industry, the event represented a unique opportunity for them to expand their reach and target a food-conscious audience.

As part of Mogodiri Society’s social responsibility, Pule said proceeds from the meat festival would be used to build a house for one of the underprivileged residents of Mogoditshane in an effort to help better the lives of Mogoditshane citizens.

“Because we intend to make this donation to one of ours, this event becomes a primary fundraising and marketing opportunity for different entities,” Pule said, adding that in order to ensure the success of the event, they required financial assistance from businesses and organisations.

Festivities for the day will include entertainment by local, national and international artists. During the day, participants would be offered special festival menus followed by food tastings and promotions.

The meat festival will offer meat lovers a buffet of different meats.

The event will be held at Mophuting Farm in Mogoditshane from 9am with tickets selling at P150 for adults and P50 for children.

“There is no greater force that unites people such as food coupled with some good music. We are offering everyone a family fun-day setting to bond with their families and feast on good meat,” Pule added.ENDS
