BDF commits to embrace tour

Botswana Defence Force (BDF) band in concert style will again include Serowe as part of their tour destination.
The chairperson of the BDF band, Colonel Baboloki Mogotsi said this when addressing councillors at the ongoing Central District Council meeting.
Having performed for the first time in Serowe last year, he said they were committed to making Serowe one of their destinations in appreciation of the commitment and support they received from the district.
“Last year we performed for the first time in Serowe accumulating proceeds amounting to P76 100,” he said.
He urged councillors to support their noble cause adding that they needed support from the leadership and were attracted by the hype and support they received in Serowe.
“This concert has been running for the past 27 years. Last year we donated P330 000 to 14 organisations across the country and Serowe SOS also benefitted. We have donated up to P1 600 000 in the past five years,” he said.
The initiative was started by the then BDF Commander, Lt Gen. Dr Seretse Khama Ian Khama with the aim of helping the needy.
Since the band will be touring the country donating proceeds, Mogotsi requested councillors to work with social workers in identifying those who could be assisted.
Mogotsi said the tour would start November 10 and 11 at Sir Seretse Khama Barracks in Gaborone.
“On November 17 we shall be performing at Orapa and November 18 the band will be in Serowe. November 14 and 15 the band will be in Francistown. December 1 we will visit Selebi Phikwe and close December 2 at Mahalapye,” he said. ENDS
