Welcoming spring in style
05 Sep 2017
It is official, spring has sprung and it comes with the latest and most fashionable trends.
The season is sure to attract sherbet colours, prints and more mood boosters of clothes and accessories.
One can safely say adios to heavy clothing and booties this season as winter is over.
In an interview with BOPA fashion guru and the brains behind Khoi-fro brand, Tsholo Dikobe stated that footwear to gravitate towards was comfortable and fashion forward.
The fashion expert said satin bow sneakers, revamped mules, embroidered sandals, ankle strapped sandals, glove pumps and low heels to be the best picks for a day or night out.
With hair, she said there was renaissance in tapered and manageable hair-cuts ranging from pixies, tapered afros, more high tops, Teeny Weeny Afro and bald.
She said other hair trends to be on the look out for included natural hair colouring, certain to be a buzz in the street style hair editions, from browns to blonde, golden and bold hair colours.
Dikobe stated that one could expect to see a little added exaggeration in clothes such as ruffles, statement sleeves and tassels, which provided a sassy look.
A lot of statement T-shirts with memorable slogans and customised initial caps were expected, she stated.
“Light outwear such as kimonos and robes are this season’s must-have in their oriental inspired textures, prints and colours,” she said, adding that blush pink and baby pink remained colours that would be filling retail sphere while tropical colours such as yellow, green, red, royal and purple would be for the bold and edgy.
Other must-haves, she said, were statement hand crafted accessories from local brands such as Thuto Sekate. ENDS
