Kaote Basson arraigned for forgery

Two women agaed between 35 and 39 Kamogelo Kaote and Desma Basson respectively were arraigned before Maun Magistrate Court recently charged with two counts of forgery and uttering a false document contrary to section 344 and Section 348 of the Penal Code Laws (Cap 08:01) of Botswana.
Investigations conducted by the Directorate on Corruption and Economic Crime (DCEC) revealed that the accused persons on July 11, 2013 in Maun acting jointly and in concert, forged a Botswana Bureau of Standards inspection report which had been issued to Linefeeds (Pty) Ltd and which had failed the inspection.
The accused persons went on to present it to Chobe District Council purporting it to be a genuine Botswana Bureau of Standards issued to Linefeeds (Pty) Ltd.
The accused persons pleaded not guilty and will appear before court on October 20, 2017.
