Hotsitx to grace Mascom live session

06 Aug 2017

With the winter season slowly winding down and revellers looking to go out, mingle and enjoy some much needed socialising, the Mascom Live Sessions are set to provide the much needed live entertainment that has been scarce due to the cold nights.

In an interview, BotswanaCraft managing director, Oliver Groth said they were thrilled to announce their spring line up for Mascom Live Sessions with the legendary South African musical icon, Sipho Hotstix Mabuse alongside local talented ATI slated for August 25.

He indicated that Mabuse has been working in the music industry for decades and created hits like Jive Soweto, Shikisa and Burn Out.

"He is one of Africa's living legends in the music industry and it's such an honour to host him at BotswanaCraft,” he said.

The artiste was born on November 2, 1951 and got his musical break and starts in the African soul group the Beaters in the mid-1970s.

Having dropped out of school in the 1960s, Mabuse did the unthinkable and went back to school 60 years later and completed his matric in 2012, and this drew him more admiration and cemented his place as a role model worth following.

South Africa President, Jacob Zuma praised him for giving inspiration “to all of us by showing us that one is never too old for education.”

Mabuse had also stated that he intended to continue on to college and study anthropology.

Mabuse has also recorded and produced for, amongst others, the late Miriam Makeba and Ray Phiri, Hugh Masekela and Sibongile Khumalo.

Oliver also indicated that Atsasaone Molemogi, known to his fans as ATI is a local hit maker and had just released a new album titled Envelop featuring the hit single Khiring Khiring Khorong.

“He has previously performed at Mascom Live Sessions when he opened for Bongo Maffin at their sold out reunited gig in May 2014.  ATI always brings his passion and imagination to the stage,” said Oliver. ENDS
