Police in Tonota are investigating an accident in which four women were confirmed dead on arrival at Nyangabgwe Referral Hospital (NRH) after a mini bus they were travelling in overturned on Sunday.

In an interview, Tonota acting station commander Assistant Superintendent Ontibile Motladiile said the fifth victim died later at the hospital the same night.

He said the victims were women aged between 29-60 years and other occupants of the mini bus were admitted at NRH with serious injuries.

He said the mini bus was travelling from a wedding in Mulambakwena in the North East district to Shakwe near Mahalapye when the accident occurred about five kilometres near Shashe Bridge turn off on the A1 Road.

ASP Motladiile said the mini bus had 15 occupants including the driver and an investigation on what could have led to the accident is being investigated.

He said those admitted with serious injuries are aged between 21-60 years. ENDS
