Lobatse International Beef Festival sets high standards

The annual Lobatse International Beef Festival (LIBF) celebrated five years with a befitting, well organised, successful and relaxed event.
The event held at the town’s park, had patrons treated to various beef delicacies ranging from finger foods and entertainment to go with, throughout the day.
A variety of traditional meats such as mokoto, mokwetjepe, mogodu and tlhogo were on offer in addition to braaied meat and boerwors.
Beef kebabs, meatballs, quiche, samosas, spinrolls, sausage rolls and mini wraps, stuffed mushrooms fruit kebabs cocktail made the list of finger foods the VIP section was treated to together with traditional meat cuisine.
To add cherry on top, elders were treated to entertainment appropriate for their age.
Those who had brought children along had a chance to enjoy the day without any disturbance as a kiddies corner provided entertainment and games for the little ones.
The little beef lovers were kept buy with activities including face painting, jumping castles, popping balloons, darts, drawings, doughnuts eating, rope racing and makeup some of which afforded little meat lovers a chance to compete and win prizes just to put a smile on their faces.
It is almost a given that with good music any every event could be a hit and LIBF delivered with various acts from traditional song and dance by Mafitlhakgosi traditional group, which entertained with setapa and pathisi dance.
Of course, modern-day house music, a much-loved genre in today’s era was in full swing and disc jockeys dished out ancestral, commercial and soul house tunes.
There were also acts from Lobatse’s own hip-hop star, Stamina.
LIBF’s vision organiser, Barolong Seboni said they wished to go international by reaching out to other countries in the region and lure them to participate in the festival.
He indicated that they hoped to reach out to corporate partners whom they had not been able to engage in the past.
Seboni expressed gratitude to Batswana especially the community of Lobatse for continued support.
He said LIBF team was strengthening relationship with Lobatse Town Council as they planned to work together in various community projects.
The day’s events wrapped up with a music festival with performances by djs and artistes such as Vee, Dr Vom and others. ENDS
