A 34-year-old man of Mmankgodi will soon appear before the magistrate court to face a murder charge after confessing to murdering his girlfriend in Tlokweng.

The accused, who was arrested on the wee hours of Tuesday around Banyana Farms, had been eluding the police for some time and was a suspect in the disappearance of his girlfriend.

The accused was yet to appear before the High Court to answer for another murder case in which he is accused to murdering a male.

Tlokweng station commander, Superintendent Robson Maleka said in an interview that the accused confessed before the police for murdering his 21-year-old girlfriend in Tlokweng.

“He said there was a misunderstanding in their relationship, which led to the murder,” said superintendent Maleka.

The accused then led the police where he had buried the remains of the deceased, who is from the Tswapong area.

Superintendent Maleka said the deceased was buried at the accused’s rented home at Bohibidung ward in Tlokweng inside a house that was still under construction.

The Tlokweng station commander stated that the deceased was reported missing by her parent around July 2 and was last seen with the boyfriend.

He said the police have been on the lookout for the accused, who was employed as a security guard and had deserted work after the girl’s disappearance.

Superintendent Maleka stated that the deceased body was recovered in a bad state and had been handed over to parents for proper burial.

Further, the Tlokweng station commander pleaded with men to respect the decision of their lovers and accept when a relationship comes to an end.

“When a woman wishes to end an affair, a man must learn to accept that and move on with his life,” said Superintendent Maleka. BOPA
