A 17-year- old student of Mahupu Unified Secondary School in Takatokwane was on Tuesday hit by a car at Maboane   and allergedly died on the spot.

Speaking in an interview, Takatokwane Deputy Station Commander, Assistant Superintendent Jacob Molapong said the Form III student had just alighted a combi and was hit by an oncoming vehicle while she tried to cross the road.

Ass. Supt Molapong said the student, who originated from Salajwe, was on her way to visiting relatives at Maboane when she met her death.

He said her body is laying at Scottish Livingstone Memorial Hospital in Molepolole, while investigations into the cause of the accident continue.

Ass. Supt Molapong also said they subjected the driver of the vehicle to tests, but was found to have been fit to drive.

Meanwhile, Ass. Supt Molapong said apart from the fatal accident, the President’s Day holidays were peaceful in is policing area. BOPA
