Three students under investigation

Shakawe police are investigating an incident in which three boys from Shakawe Senior Secondary School were caught smoking a substance suspected to be dagga on June 25.
Deputy officer commanding, Assistant Senior Superintendent John Kelebeng confirmed the incident in an interview, saying suspects aged between 18 and 19 were found by one of the teachers at the sports ground.
He said the teacher notified the police who searched the suspects and found one sachet of a substance in the pocket of one of the suspects.
He said the police collected the substance and that it would be taken to the police laboratory for testing.
In Maun, police are investigating an incident in which a middle-aged-man is suspected to have stabbed his girlfriend with a sharp object on the ribs over the weekend.
Assistant Senior Superintendent Kelebeng said the incident took place around 9pm at Mawana cattle post.
He said the suspect found his girlfriend at another boys place and stabbed her with the object.
He noted that the suspect handed himself over to the police.
He said the victim was hospitalised at Letsholathebe Memorial Hospital while investigations continue.
Still in Maun, a 24-year-old man was stabbed in the stomach with a sharp instrument by another man at one of the entertainment spots on June 25 around 11pm.
Assistant Senior Supt Kelebeng said the mother of the victim reported the matter to the police, adding that the suspect was still at large.
In other incident, a 37-year- old woman is recuperating at Gumare Primary Hospital after she sustained serious injuries on the head and hip.
It was reported that the victim was struck by a vehicle which veered off the road at the Shakawe hiking spot.
Assistant Senior Supt Kelebeng said the driver of the vehicle would be charged for driving a vehicle while unfit. ENDS
