Boteti region scoops Tsutsube song dance competitions

Boteti region has proved its dominance in Tsutsube dance at the Central Regional President’s Day competitions in traditional song and dance when three of its groups got position 1,2 and 3 at 78 per cent, 76 per cent and 74 per cent respectively.
Orapa Tsutsube Traditional group and Temane Acts group scooped the first position in Tsutsube traditional song and dance while Khoison from Xere got second position, and the third position went to Matsubetsube group from Khwee during the Central regional competitions in Orapa over the weekend.
The traditional song and dance competitions covered Phathisi, Tsutsube and Setapa.
Ngwao le Metlha from Serowe got position one in Setapa while Kalatsakgale from Selebi Phikwe got first position in Phathisi.
Thus, the three groups would compete in the finale in Gaborone next month to represent the Central region, while those groups who got second, third and fourth position will get their prizes in the region.
Officiating at the Central regional 2017 President’s day Competitions for traditional song and dance, safety and health manager at Orapa Letlhakane and Damtshaa Mines, Badiri Metlaleng urged the artistes to take their work seriously in order to improve their lives.
Motlaleng encouraged artistes to utilise President’s Day Competitions to showcase their talent as the winners get reward at the end of the day.
He also applauded President Lieutenant General Dr Seretse Khama Ian Khama for his support in the promotion of Arts and Culture.
Motlaleng said arts and culture, sport development are among their priorities in Corporate Social Investment programmes.
He also said last year Debswana company spent under half a million pula in the area of arts, culture and development,
Ministry of Youth Empowerment, Sport and Culture Development officer said the objectives of the competitions were to unearth talent and to give artistes time to revive their culture
The central region consists of 11 sub-regions and the participating groups were from Boteti, Serowe, Mahalapye, Palapye, Masunga, Sowa Town, Tutume, Selibe Phikwe, Tonota, Bobonong and Francistown. ENDS
