Baeletsi Miss WTISD 2017

Naledi Baeletsi, 21, was crowned Miss World Telecommunication and Information Society Day (WTISD) in Masunga.
Baeletsi emerged the finest after beating 12 other contestants and walked away with a Huawei tablet, Huawei phone, P900 worth airtime, P4 000 Mascom My Zaka money and two Mascom sim cards.
The beauty pageant sponsored by Mascom Wireless was part of the build up to the WTISD that saw Baeletsi also named Miss Creativity after designing the best outfit using provided Mascom material.
For Miss Creativity, Baeletsi, who was tagged ‘Collect SMS’ by Mascom, won a Huawei phone, Mascom branded bag pack, P200 worth airtime, Mascom simcard and P500 Mascom My Zaka money.
Baeletsi indicated in an interview her intention to work hand in hand with other contestants to see how they could change Masunga technologically.
She also said she intended to change the village into an innovation hub, helping both the youth and the elderly to know the importance of technology in their everyday lives.
Baeletsi said her community was of the view that ICT was for the youth, something she aimed to change to ensure the elderly embraced ICT.
The beauty queen said she was grateful to her mother who groomed her to believe in herself and strive for the best.
Miss Personality title went to 25-year-old Janet Manuel after being selected by other contestants as having the best personality.
Manuel won a Huawei phone, P200 Mascom airtime, P500 My Zaka money, Mascom simcard and a Mascom branded bag pack.
Mbiganyi Dema, 24, of Vukwi was crowned first princess and Manuel second.
Contestants were named after 13 Mascom wireless services such as Zero Facebook, Night Surfers, My Meg, Nzamele, Collect SMS, My Zone, Instagram, Messenger, WhatsApp, Khumo points, My News and My Social.
Mascom public relations and communications manager, Barbara Gotlop said Mascom would work together with Miss WTISD 2017 and support her in whatever initiative she chose, adding that the company sponsored the pageant with over P50 000.
Gotlop also stated that Mascom Wireless donated 10 computers to Masunga schools while other stakeholders such as BOCCRA, Orange, BTC and BotswanaPost also donated computers.
She said there were other projects that Mascom Wireless was engaged in across the country in partnership with the ministries of education and transport as well as BOSANET. ENDS
