Preacher Boy back with bang

17 May 2017

A gospel hip hop artiste who is famous for the hit song Motsotsonyana that was released in 2010 from the album Testimony Chapter 2 under World of Music studio is back with a bang.

His real names Moarabi Mushimehi and his stage name Testify, as his fans affectionaly call him or The Preacher Boy, released his first album in 2010 which made him one of the top earning local artistes in the CRB royalties rolled out by Vib mobile.

The Lotlhakane East born and raised musician started his music career during his school days at Seepapitso Senior Secondary School as he grew up in a Christian family and being a keyboardist for the Church of Nazarene.

He has performed in many corporate events that made him to be one of the judges for the used to be famous Christian event called God Deserves The Best not only that he even became a guest artiste in Lobatse at Galore Productions at the best of the rest. He has also influenced a lot of Christian hip hop artistes, as after he hit the market, similar line of music cropped up such as the upcoming MVP and others.

In an interview, he noted that he was working on his second album after taking a break from the music scene to discover himself and do other things to put the bread on the table.

He comes back with a single dubbed Church Girl which was released last week prior to his album which is anticipated to drop in September.

The talented artiste said his latest offering was a new touch as he was moving away from Rap to R&B because of advice from his fans and people close to him.

He also feels Rap has lost touch which makes a lot of artistes to sound the same and end up not having a concept.

He noted that Church Girl was a song that encouraged all the church girls, helping them to maintain their Christian lifestyle and not to be involved in the night club life which puts them at risk of unwanted pregnancy resulting in abortion, drugs and alcohol and the spread of HIV and all other sins.

He said he wanted to recognise church girls because they were courageous, adding that the song does not sound more like a gospel song, but that the lyrical content promotes the influence and loyalties of associating with church girls.

Church Girl was produced by Lord Rage of Drumsonic studio and sponsored by Pulpitgoovers Entertainment.

He noted that the video of his latest offering was on the pipeline as a team was working on the unique script for it which would be shot around June and working closely with Ozzy of Ozzy Entertainment for advice and a few of his craft.

He is currently focusing on Testimony chapter 2 with World of Music Studios and Drumsonic and working with Pro Lanez and OB for production.

He is in talks with the likes of Lyon, Kay Makaleng and Boity Sedumedi to feature in some of his songs and promised to do a lot of collaborations with other local artistes.

He noted that soon he would be doing concerts with a couple of churches starting with Lobatse on 28 June at the Civic Centre courtesy of the Church of Nazarene to make fans aware of his offering.

He advised upcoming stars that with more talent coming up, the industry was not growing hence artistes should not flock in one genre but should explore and realise their talent and be creative.

He urged gospel artistes to work together for the glory of God and to give support to each other and pleaded with radio stations to play gospel music each day to uplift the spirit of the nation, as these were the last days and hard times but not to focus on playing gospel only on Sundays, adding that other awards such as Yammas could introduce the gospel artistes category just to encourage them to record good music.
