She believes fashion modelling talent is what she was born for. She is passionate, creative and innovative to see how she can create employment for other models because modelling has a broad spectrum.
Queen Kolobe of Madam Queen Modeling Agency said success in this kind of shows was not having deep pockets, but good contacts and knowing how to capitalise on those contacts. She added that it was also to help the models feel that they have established a good carrier for themselves.
She said sponsorship was money which had to be used to pay for all those participating and those assisting in the preparations.
“It does not mean that when one does not get sponsorship one has to just sit, as for me I work to ensure that any show I host becomes a success,” said Kolobe.
She said she had been rallying behind the spirit of self-reliance, and hosted shows without sponsorship.
She added that in one of the shows, she was able to give back to the community by hosting the Miss Junior Botswana with Childline, an organisation which has also partnered with her company.
Normally, there is a figure that River Walk management offers and she said she makes a budget from it to host the show.
“I reach agreement with everyone who takes part in the event including those who arrange the chairs. Everything is transparent,” she said.
Kolobe, who is also the manager of her company, was speaking in an interview at a winter show she hosted at Riverwalk Shopping Complex in conjunction with the complex management.
Having been with River Walk since 2007, she said she has done more including grooming models for the presidential fashion show.
The show, which is an annual event, is meant to sensitise members of the public about winter clothing and this year, 13 models participated.
It is also hosted to promote shops at River Walk and that the public should know where to go when it was winter or spring.
“This time I got support from the owner of JB Sport who came to appreciate and called the show a good concept which should to be continued.”
Meanwhile, Nelson Chaka, one of the models who was taking part for the first time, said climbing the stage made him nervous and that his confidence was revived after people were cheering them.
He encouraged the public to attend such shows in large numbers to boost them and to appreciate the show. ENDS
