Duma FM representative, Donald Seberane has applauded their listeners for the support they have given them since their establishment.

Seberane was speaking at an occasion to mark the station’s 10th anniversary and frequency launch in Kanye recently.

He stated that listeners opinions, comments and advice have proved critical towards shaping the station and making it the listeners number one choice.

Seberane, who is also a presenter at Duma FM, said it was therefore prudent to broadcast in major towns, cities and villages like Kanye to appreciate support.

He explained that initially Kanye listeners used to listen to Duma FM using the Lobatse frequency of 100.9, but that the station has in the past two years created a frequency for the village and its surroundings.

So far according to Seberane, the station has visited Lobatse and Good Hope as part of their tour, adding that on May 20  Duma will visit Jwaneng.

“We will continue touring the country until the 27 December where we will host a birthday party in Maun which will be our final destination,” he said.

Regular caller at the station, Kgotlaetsile Mokgothu affectionately known as ‘Tunkas’ said he and other callers  had advocated for Kanye to have its own frequency.

“We fought a good fight because the station caters for all issues, be it social, political, economic or entertainment. We are always given an opportunity to voice out our concerns without any bias,” he said.

Tunkas who has been a frequent caller for 11 years across different radio stations, thanked taxi operators for heeding his call of playing the station every morning thereby popularising it among residents.

For his part, former Member of Parliament for Kanye North, Kentse Rammidi challenged the station to increase their listenership to at least 90 per cent, especially since elections were approaching so that the electorate were enlightened on electoral matters.

In his welcome remarks, Kgosi Tshegofatso Mere of Mongala ward thanked the station for gracing their village.

He also challenged Duma FM to consider setting up a liaison office in Kanye.

Duma FM is a commercial radio station which was established in 2007 whose primary objective is to inform and educate. ENDS
