Inspiration, determination and hard work are the key to success.

These are the motivational words of an ambitious upcoming young disk jockey, Letlhomame Keirelwang, otherwise known as, DJ Wolf Dawg.

Born and bred in Kanye, 19-year- old DJ, said he started his deejaying career in 2009 pushed by his love for beats and the rhyme of mixing different songs.

Speaking in an interview, DJ  Dawg said even though he was inspired by the rhythm of the music, he looked up to local DJs such as DJ Shaboo, DJ Oats, DJ Sly and DJ Laputo, who were his role models.

From a tender age, he said he had always dreamt of becoming a DJ.

As a result, he started listening to mixed beats to understand how they flow and tried creating his own to put it into practice.

“After failing my Botswana General Certificate Secondary Education Examinations, I then realised that every individual has what they are good at. Some are academically endowed, while others are born with bountiful talents. So I started focusing on mixing beats to form a song.”

DJ Wolf Dawg, who also doubles as a motivational speaker in junior schools in Kanye, said his motive was to inspire the youth on issues like teenage pregnancy, drugs and alcohol abuse and life in general.

He is working with DJs in Kanye like DJ Bobgiie, DJ Hype and Sparks Lehipi to develop his skills in disc jockey.

DJ Wolf Dawg performs in entertainment events, baby showers, weddings and parties and he once had the opportunity to perform in a bigger event at Gamaila Festive Meltdown in 2016, which was an eye opener to him for greater things to come.

“I have an event called Festive Season Family Fun day, which started last year. My mandate is to raise funds and help the orphans and the under privileged by donating Christmas gifts and food to them every December,” he said.

He said he would collaborate with Kanye community to raise funds to accomplish his mission.

He lists Pako Sebetsokgomo and Boago Gongwefela as his mentors, saying they had helped him achieve his dreams. DJ Wolf Dawg has encouraged parents to always support their children’s dreams, adding that people should follow their passion and work hard to achieve their dreams as nothing comes easy in life. ENDS
