Winters must haves

07 May 2017

Fashion artist, Tsholo Dikobe says winter seems to have come early this time around.

In an interview, the fashion icon said this winter does not have to be so dull and boring, when there was fashion to lighten it up with.

“One can always look good and stunning in winter wear too,” she noted.

Dikobe is a fashion artist, fashion blogger and stylist popularly known from the Khoi-fro duo.

She spoke of how for ladies a more casual look, exaggerated winged ponchos and capes in patterns and prints make a huge comeback.

“Also making a print in the fashion world are chunky, over-sized, bold sweaters, which will be our instant mood boosters for the dull, chilly days,” she said.

Dikobe further spoke of how military coats, military jackets in oriental prints, or floral embroidery will hit the streets.

The shoes to rock are vinyl boots (those that look like they are made out of plastic), half boots with embroidery prints and accessories such as a leather beret.

For men, invest in a knee length coat, preferably in colours such as navy blues, greys and with texture,” she said.

However, she stated that although a hat might not come to mind when thinking of winter must haves, wool or felt fedora is a great way to keep warm without sacrificing on style as this accessory can make any outfit look more put together and fashionable.

“Investing in a turtleneck top is a smart choice and will ensure that your neck is nice and warm winter long,” she said.

Dikobe explained that this style looks good with anything whether it be paired with a sweater and sleeveless dress, or simply worn on its own with jeans.

She advised people to avoid wearing a summer fragrance in winter because the composition and contents in a fragrance would smell differently than it should in winter.

“This winter attitude will play an important role in how clothes sit on our bodies and how we wear our clothes. Opt for a one statement piece that will be your overall main focus and mix with an accessory,” she said.

Dikobe also encouraged people to go for an oversized trench coat and add a beret to jazz up the look adding that one may keep their whole outfit simple and opt for statement boots.

“Your best option to nail a mix and match is to mix a texture and a solid colour.

Now you can take over winter looking stylish, radiant and stunning,” she said. ENDS
