Local group nominated for African music awards

Gaborone-based gospel music group, Aregopoleng Gospel Boyz has been nominated for the 2017 African Gospel Music and Media Awards (AGMMA).

The AGMMA is the premier gospel event that recognises and awards talent that exists within the African gospel music and Christian media fraternity and beyond.

The awards, which seek to unearth, encourage, motivate and inspire musicians and media outfits to aspire to attain excellence in their work will be held in London on 3 June.

Aregopoleng Gospel Boyz was nominated for the musical group of excellence category and is pitted against other 12 groups from various countries.

In an interview, group member, Kagiso Magano said the nomination had brought excitement to Aregopoleng Gospel Boyz and appealed to Batswana to vote for them through an online voting system.

The group is also appealing for sponsorship for the London trip.

Formed in 2011, Aregopoleng Gospel Boyz is 2013 BOMU Best traditional gospel award winner and also 2013 President’s Day Celebrations Awards second finalist.

The group comprises of four young men namely; Kepadile Mantswenyane, Thato Andina, Magano and Tumisang Marumoagae. ENDS
