For many people, the biggest thing that ever came from the tiny village of Mmankgodi is the notorious premier league Rockies, Black Forest Football Club.

However, there is a DJ called Keletso Mangwane in the making in the name of Try who also stands to be the pride of the village.

Like many other upcoming Dj’s, Try spend most of his time hitting his head against the walls trying to make it into line-up of big gigs, but in vain.

“Sometimes it was hard for promoters to put me in their line up even if I wanted to play for free,” he said. But things changed after he won a battle of the DJs competition to play for Yarona FM.

“I entered the competition to be Yarona FM resident DJ on Tshephi ESS show and the listeners voted me,” he said.  Since then, DJ Try’s life has been much better. “I have shared stage with local heavyweights such as DJ Aimo, Kutchi and Ricki Lamar and I learnt a lot from them,” he said.

However, after meeting with a local producer, Bryan Raul, he decided to produce Soul house single.

Dj Try, who is driven by passionate hopes for success in the industry.  Try said the single was his baby, since he composed the elements.

Batswana, he said had responded positively to his Soul single, which would be launched soon. He noted that he could only do best in his parttime job if his followers were to help him with ideas.

“A lot people do not know that this is the type of music is soul soothing and can be used in any event. The song is unique and I am determined more so that my family supports me,” he said adding that he used social media to advertise his song.

Meanwhile, Botswana Musicians Union PRO, Pagson Ntsie said they encourage upcoming artists to associate themselves with registered established studios, reputable agents and managers so that they could start on the right footing in this field.

“We encourage young artists to be patient to penetrate the industry. Normally, the first year is always a time of establishment with very little income. Usually, we assign them to reputable tutors in music industry.

It used to be a norm in the previous years that artists were people of bad habits and we are here as BOMU to dispel that norm. Artistes today, are professionals and good citizens and through their career,  they earn a living,” he said. ENDS
