Organisers hunt for support

The organisers of Miss Ramotswa have opted to put up a brave face in support of their project despite lack of support.
The project organisers recently experienced a low turnout at the mini-aerobathon held to raise funds for Re bona Fa Caring Centre and the Ditlhong Family.
Re bona Fa Caring Centre is a Ramotswa based elderly care centre, while the Ditlhong Family had their house burnt to ashes recently.
The Miss Ramotswa project coordinator, Olerato Thobega said the event was not the first to attract a low turnout.
“We did another mini-aerobathon to raise money for the pageant in November, the turnout was also low,” said the concerned Thobega.
She said they had doubled their efforts in promoting the weekend activity, but that they still had a disappointing attendance.
Nonetheless, she pointed that they would continue to sensitise the community about their project and what it aims to do for the community.
“We are not going to give up,” said Thobega.
She said they chose the mini-aerobathon as a fund raising activity after realising that people in the area love fitness.
“People love fitness, we see them running along the road everyday, but when you invite them for an organised fitness activity, they do not attend,” she said.
Mmasechaba Aerobics Club Centre manager and fitness instructor, Thero Moduke also conceded that there was love for fitness activities, but said the low turnout was due to another activity at the University of Botswana on the same day.
He said most clubs had opted to participate at the University of Botswana event. However, he said there was potential in the aerobathon, adding that beside that it could be used to raise funds and to keep fit.BOPA
