In a bid to grow and celebrate local talent, Orange Botswana has donated P40 000 to the Tlatsa Lebala movement to show its commitment to the cause of local music.
Speaking after the cheque handover ceremony recently, Orange Botswana chief executive officer, Patrick Benon said the company planned to drive a stronger culture of appreciation for local music.
“We at Orange Botswana are proud of Kast and his team for not only starting such an initiative, recognising the need and the potential to realise such an objective, but for making the topic of local music development part of our daily conversation. After all, the more we talk about it, the more we recognise it and thus make a real difference. It is in this spirit that Orange Botswana wholeheartedly supports the Tlatsa Lebala initiative,” he said, adding that all Orange Botswana staff would commemorate and celebrate Tlatsa Lebala on Friday’s by donning Tlatsa Lebala t-shirts.
He said they applauded Kast and were proud to play a part in the growth and progression of the Tlatsa Lebala initiative in alignment with Orange Botswana’s passion for driving innovative thinking and social good.
“At Orange Botswana we are passionate about connecting Batswana to what really matters to them most and we want to see Kast’s Tlatsa Lebala dream become an even greater success,” said Benon.
For his part, Kast said he was humbled by the gesture and said there had been many offers in that regard, but that Orange Botswana was demonstrating a desire to support in an engaging and inclusive manner.
"This we believe will spell out more long term impact and further aid us in our mission. We thank Orange Botswana and encourage all Batswana to come together and show their support,” he said.
Tlatsa Lebala, organised by The Kast Foundation, would see local artists coming together to host the biggest ever local entertainment event in Botswana’s history.
The platform aims to shine a spotlight on local music, showing off not only the wealth of talent within the borders, but highlighting the potential for further growth.
Tlatsa Lebala is slated to take place at the National Stadium in Gaborone on May 6. ENDS
