A 21 -year-old Kanye born Hip hop motswako artiste, Oabona Molefi, who is known in the music circles as Sparkz Lehipi has revealed his ambitions of giving back to the needy members of society, should he get established.

In an interview with the young artiste, who did a certificate course in social work at Bosa Bosele Training Institute, he said the course unleashed the kindness in him, hence he intends to give back to the disadvantaged members of the society.

Molefi said doing the social work course compelled him to do something about the needy situations since he knows their struggles better, saying at one stage he was really struggling in life as a family.

The young artiste, who will be launching his first album; Home Sweet Home on April 29 in Kanye, said his album is about township lifestyle and everyday reality situations.

The album has 17 tracks including songs such as Home Sweet Home, Bamotsere, Ga-Maila, John Lorie, Skelem, Ngwana yoo and Botshelo Jwame among others.

The main track of the album, Home Sweet Home is about a prodigal son, who abandoned his family and later came back empty-handed and apologise to his family. Skelem, is about a man who is influenced by money to wander away and later after realising that it is not good for him and his family.

Ga-Maila talks about the support he gets from his fans in Kanye.

The album was produced by one Jalo jalo, Moreez and Jajaman.

It was recorded at Black Jive Studios in Tlokweng, while the mixing and mastering was done by HMB Music in Molepolole.

He said he gets inspiration from Cassper Nyovest, who he believes is a hardworker.

He also noted that he would like to collaborate with the likes of A.T.I and Dramaboy in future.

He also pointed out that he admires Ditiro Leero, saying he always has a story to tell through his music.

Although Sparkz Lehipi said he is solo, he belongs to a Gaborone Swagger team, which has a clothing brand.

He further noted that since he is signed by Black Jive Studios, they took care of everything from cutting the CDs to distribution.

Although still trying to get established, the young artiste said their everyday challenges as budding artiste is lack of bookings for shows, lack of airplay by radio stations as well as piracy.

He compliments his music career by working as a photographer and graphic designer operating from home.

Sparkz Lehipi said music can take one to places, saying however that one has to get educated before hand.

He noted that his family supports him although they initially wanted him to get a white collar job. ENDS
