Back-to-school festival to inspire local DJs

Mbazi Investment youthful founder, Michael Sekaba says his organisation aims to inspire young artistes to take their talent serious and use it to earn a living not just to while away time.
Sekaba, popularly known as ‘Uncle Dipopae’ and organiser of Gamaila Back-to-School festival scheduled for the Savannah Lodge Saturday said in an interview that the object of the festival was to persuade young artistes who did not go far in their schooling to believe they could also make it in life through the talent God blessed them with.
Much as he believed education was key, Sekaba said even young people without tertiary qualification could also earn a decent living through talent if they put it to good use.
He said the festival would afford up and coming artistes especially disk jockeys (DJs) from Kanye and sorrounding areas to slug it out and showcase their talent.
Sekaba said he was concerned that most of them usually enjoyed playing at bars, clubs for free which would never get them far in life.
He noted that Kanye artistes such as Raptured Roots, DJ Ike, Ross and Psycho Kings, among others, would lead the pack.
He said he has also invited some artistes from South Africa in the likes of Kenole Legote from Motsweding FM to give the event more weight.
He said Kenole, also known as Miss K, would inspire young women to wish to become DJs.
“I have invited four DJs from South Africa who also help market our music across the border to come and jazz up the day for us,” he said.
Sekaba explained that in the past he was able to send artistes to perform in South Africa with the help of Motsweding FM, Kopanong, Mafisa radio station and MonoTone from SABC, among others.
He said his artistes performed mostly in South Africa and Namibia.
He said the next show would rope in education stakeholders like teachers and parents with the view to motivate them to play a meaningful role in learners’ studies. ENDS
