Clint France, 31-year-old upcoming hip-hop/dancehall artiste acknowledges that starting a music career can be a difficult task especially when one is without a solid financial background.
But challenges did not strip him of his dream of becoming a musician of repute.
Having been introduced to the music scene as a teen, France used to mimic artistes and while a secondary school student, tried his hand at writing lyrics.
In 2006, France said he went to Zimbabwe and worked with Joe Maseko of House of Rising Sounds where he recorded his first demonstration.
“Working with different artistes has sharpened my skills and the tactics I learned I still use to overcome challenges,” he said.
In 2009, Clint as he is known to his fans recorded his first single at Bonfella Studios with the help of one Mabutho whom he met in 2005.
However, due to financial constraints, the single did not do well and it was then that he took a break only resurface in 2015 more determined to realise his dream.
“When I bounced back in 2015, I recorded my second single entitled the Power of Love featuring Mmoloki Godzamamphela otherwise known as Star luu.
This single was well received and gave me courage to push harder recording a 11 track debut album title New Chapter in 2016, he stated.
He said the title track, New Chapter was more about giving advice that one should be ready to pick themselves up when life knocked them down and it had won the listeners’ hearts.
Other songs getting airplay include Partying up there, Aint stopping, I made it, Don’t mess around, life and Coming home both featuring Lebogang Serati otherwise known as Lebo.
Hard work has paid off for France and this was rewarded in 2016 when he was nominated under the Hip-hop/Motswako category for the Northern Arts Awards and won. ENDS
